Watch the Vivian Girls sing to each other over the phone in fabulously decorated teenage girl bedrooms. This song seems like the female answer to Nada Surf’s “Popular”.

Toronto’s Fucked Up came to Brooklyn’s Masonic Temple to perform the future hardcore punk classic The Chemistry of Common Life in it’s entirety. The band brought some guests including hipster darlings Vivian Girls on backup vocals and world class pianist/party-rock king Andrew W.K to tickle the ivories (well plastic keys). Despite what sounded like partially blown speakers in the P.A. system, Fucked Up did not disappoint. Even the singer/guitarist of the opening act, Titus Andronicus, could be found crowd surfing and screaming along with Pink Eyes.
During the last song of the encore, Andrew WK returned to the stage which I assume most hoped would break into one of his many songs about partying, puking and/or New York City. Instead after a long intro the band broke into “Louie, Louie” which was a perfect ending to the night as the crowd filled the stage singing along.
More pictures after the jump.

Fucked Up have announced that they will be performing The Chemistry of Common Life in it’s entirety at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple on November 5th. To make the night extra special the band has announced a slew of killer guests including Andrew W.K. (Keyboards) / Vivian Girls (Backup Vocals) as well as Titus Andronicus and Katie Stelmanis. So keep a pair of shorts ready for November because it gets sweaty in the Masonic Temple. Chemistry was one of our favorite records of 2008, we are stoked for this.
Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 AM.
