A video has been released for the title track of Ryan Adams’ forthcoming album. Playing an acoustic version of the song, Adams sits and strums a red, white and blue guitar. He also appears to be wearing Mardi Gras beads. It sounds like he’s in top form, and we’re very much looking forward to hearing the rest of the album.
Missed this video when it first went up, but it rules. Wild Flag runs amuck and causes some mischief on their lunch break. We look forward to catching their amazing live show again in October at Maxwell’s.
Altamont has put out a series of shirts featuring graphics and imagery of GWAR each on a couple different color ways. We suggesting wearing the white shirts to their shows though so you can further customize with fake guts and blood from the front row splash zone area. Plus it’s a GWAR shirt so no need to wash it, ever.
Someone has taken the time to create a Zelda / SNES style role playing game about Neutral Milk Hotel titled “In A Time Machine Over The Sea”. Check out the trailer and download link below. This helps to build the anticipation for the Jeff Magnum shows that seem to finally be coming up despite the fact tickets all sold out way earlier this year.
Honestly, this new Fucked Up video for “The Other Shoe” video is pretty anti-climatic and basically just has a bunch of people walking around with seemingly no purpose. I love this song though, so if you haven’t heard it listen to it with some visuals.
Daniel Blumberg of Yuck’s side project Oupa have released what I believe is his first video for the track “Physical”. This project is more challenging and not as immediately gratifying as Yuck but definitely worth a listen. Forget is avaialble on cassette and digitally from Fat Possum.
Watch the Vivian Girls sing to each other over the phone in fabulously decorated teenage girl bedrooms. This song seems like the female answer to Nada Surf’s “Popular”.
Oasis fans, you’ve waited long enough. The heart and soul of your favorite band, Noel Gallagher, has finally announced the release his first solo album, High Flying Birds, which will happen in October. Further to that the first single, “The Death of You and Me” will be available in August, and you can hear the song and watch the video now. The Get Up Kids put forth a solid cover of Blur’s “Girls and Boys” for AV Club’s undercover series. While you’re there make sure to check out The Mountain Goat’s cover of Jawbreaker.
From one of our favorite albums of the 2011, Arabia Mountain, comes the video for “New Direction”. My friend just commented it looks like they took the whole video production budget and spent it on drugs instead. Sounds about right.
Lots of new videos hitting the web in the past few days, the latest from Ty Segall and Cults both happen to be for songs that are at least a year old. OFF!’s video comes from their 7 inch EP collection and will take about 37 seconds of your time.
The next single off of Arctic Monkeys’ new album Suck It and See will be released next month. Check out the video for “The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala”, which features scenes of the band walking through a field, California sun and palm trees and a cat-like model all broken up by live footage and all looking like it was shot with a home video camera.
Mastodon takes on your favorite kid’s shows with violent results. The Adult Swim singles program is killing it right now, go download the song for free along with tracks from Best Coast & How To Dress Well here.
The first video from Fucked Up’sDavid Comes To Life (the best album of the year so far) is for “Queen of Hearts” which features guest vocals from Madeline Follin of Cults as Veronica. The clip directed by Scott Cudmore features students being conducted by their teacher to sing along to the track.
New music video from Yuck featuring various people’s body parts juxtaposed together to create strange cut and paste humans singing the song. There is some artsy full frontal nudity that may be frowned upon if it shows up on the computer screen at your corporate desk job, so watch out. They have a newish 7″ for “Shook Down” with the non-album track “Milkeshake” which we have posted previously, but you can check it out again below.
