Slayer will be releasing the World Painted Blood 7″ with a previously unreleased track, “Atrocity Vendor,” as part of a special limited-edition single for Metal Club. The 7″ comes in a clear clear sleeve on blood red vinyl and will be available in select record stores on Black Friday (Nov. 26th). Visit Metal Club for more info on where to pick it up.

Slayer’s new vinyl box set, The Vinyl Conflict, will start spewing hate on turntables on Oct. 12th. The box set includes 10 Slayer albums on 180 gram vinyl including Reign in Blood (1986), South of Heaven (1988), Seasons In The Abyss (1990), the double-record Live Decade of Aggression (1991), Divine Intervention (1994), Undisputed Attitude (1998), God Hates Us All (2001), Christ Illusion (2006), and World Painted Blood (2009).

The Big Four’s European tour is coming to theaters worldwide. Not sure how watching Metallica and Slayer in a movie theater will compare in person besides that either way you will be sitting near smelly dudes drinking heavily. Tickets are $20 and most of each bands set will be shown.

A special issue of Revolver has just landed in my mail box that features the art of hard rock and heavy metal. The magazine goes through the concept behind classic album cover art with the band and artists. Bands included are Deftones, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Converge, Guns and Roses, Cattle Decapitation, Mastodon, Napalm Death and more. Artist interviews include Wes Benscoter, Paul Romano, Arik Roper, Ed Repka and more.

Volcom has announced some artists for their 2010 vinyl club including The Sword, Year Long Disaster, The Bronx, El Bronx, Baron, Growlers, and Dave Lombardo of Slayer. I am hoping its just a 10 minute drum solo from Mr. Lombardo. You can drop 40 bucks to get a year of 7 inches at this link.

Slayer have revealed the cover artwork for World Painted Blood, which is actually four different covers put together to make a map of the earth… wait for it… painted in blood! That’s not all the land masses on the map are made up of human skeletons. A deluxe CD/DVD version and 180 gram vinyl will also be available. I suppose you “Gotta Catch ‘em all!”

I don’t usually post straight up news items, but the world always needs the details on a new Slayer album. World Painted Blood will be released Tuesday, November 3rd in North American and Monday, November 2 to the rest of the world.

There will be three different editions of the album: Limited edition CD with multiple CD covers, Deluxe edition CD/DVD, and a high-quality, 180-gram vinyl edition.

We are happy to be giving away a copy of Precious Metal: Decibel Presents the Stories Behind 25 Extreme Metal Masterpieces the new book featuring stories of how classic metal albums were made from Decibal Magazine. The criteria to talk about the album is very strict including the rule that they must be able to interview all the band members who played on the album. Which is why you might be wondering where Master of Puppets is etc. The book does cover a lot of great records though ranging from Slayer’s Reign In Blood to Converge’s Jane Doe. This past weekend I checked out the Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn. One thing that caught my eye were the pillows made out of old metal t-shirts including Slayer, Pantera, Iron Maiden and more by a company called Dang Lorang. Perfect gift for your girlfriend thats a metalhead but still likes a pile of throw pillows on the couches and bed. Cool idea, good luck selling the Family Values one though, that tour line up (Limp Bizkit) always sucked.

Custom Guitar creator Neil Moser has joined forces with Element Skateboards to create some interesting decks for the “Metal Gods” skate deck series. The decks feature guitar sketches from Moser that look like they would fit nicely in the of B.C. Rich family of guitars. The decks are for Bam Margera and Mike V. (whose band, Revolution Mother recently signed to Ferret Records). Buying the board also gives you a chance to win the actual guitar. Cool decks, not Slayer skate deck cool, but still pretty good. Our New York pick for Record Store Day is Generation Records where the Bouncing Souls will be performing a special acoustic set at 2 PM in the basement if you buy their 7 inch at the store. More details on their site.

Fear not, New England Metal Festers, there is a store in Worcester called That’s Entertainment that is part of Record Store Day. Only about 2 miles away from the venue, so it’s a convenient stop on the way to the fest.
