It is an understatement to say that we are saddened by the passing of Jay Reatard yesterday. Jay Reatard came to Music Hall with a 25 minute headlining set where he turned all of his songs into 2 minute jabs of punk rock. After finishing his set opener TV Smith of The Adverts came out and performed 3 tracks with Jay and his band. Also of note is that at the shows Jay is selling his new LP Watch Me Fall not due out till August 4th. Click next to see some photos from the first set and the set with TV Smith.

Later in the night, Smith joined Reatard’s band to play Adverts classics like “Gary Gilmore’s Eyes” and “Bored Teenagers.” Photos of this and Reatard’s set coming soon.
