Coliseum continues their path of creating more melodic music that still pummels your ears and this song is definitely on par then all the best tracks on House with a Curse. For the new EP Parasites, J. Robbins once again produced and Rick Froberg (Obits, Hot Snakes) provided the album art.

Record Store Day exclusive split release from Coliseum and Superchunk (who crafted two of our favorite records last year) featuring their covers of the Misfits which both surfaced last year around Halloween. Coliseum takes on “Bullet” and Superchunk covers “Horror Business”. This is one of our top pieces of vinyl we will be hunting for on RSD 2011.

I feel that 2010 was a great year for music as I debated between over 40 records for my top 10. It’s always hard to compile your favorite records of the past year because each hits you at a different moment of your life and affects you in certain way. Some of those albums I keep going back to and others get tossed aside after a month or so. Below is what I have concluded to be my top 10 based on the records I think will stick with me for years to come.

Coliseum’s new video features bears, lots of split blood, horror clips and cat fights, don’t show this to your Aunt that likes cute kitten videos. The song “Skeleton Smile” features Bonnie Prince Billy and is off Coliseum’s stellar House With a Curse which was released earlier this year.

Recorded during the House With A Curse demo sessions comes a sludgy rendition of the Misfits classic “Bullet” by Coliseum. Temporary Residence will also be reissuing Goddammage with 10 bonus tracks on LP which should join your record collection soon.

Coliseum have announced their third full length will be released via their new label, Temporary Residence Limited this summer. The latest effort was produced by the legendary J. Robbins and features a slew of guests including Young Widows, Will Oldham (Bonnie Prince Billy), Jason Noble, Peter Searcy, Carrie Niemeyer (Second Story Man), Brigid Kaelin, Alicja Trout (River City Tanlines) and eight year old Oliver Cox makes his first recorded appearance. Hopefully they don’t label the meta data on the mp3′s like a hip-hop album with all the guests names causing my iPod to have 15 different artists starting with Coliseum. I look forward to this being their best and most crushing record yet.
