From one of our favorite albums of the 2011, Arabia Mountain, comes the video for “New Direction”. My friend just commented it looks like they took the whole video production budget and spent it on drugs instead. Sounds about right.

Mark Ronson definitely put a magic touch on these new Black Lips tracks because so far everything from Arabia Mountain sounds so good. Read more to check out another new song, “New Direction”.

Black Lips have always been at their best in a live setting where even with all the on-stage antics their songs just sounded way better than on record. Now with the production of Mark Ronson to tighten up their sound, I think he has finally captured a great recorded sound for the band on Arabia Mountain. Some will be turned off by the slicker, more polished sound, but it’s their loss because this is their best work yet. Check out the single “Modern Art” below.

According to a recent interview in Filter, The Black Lips are aiming for some mainstream success with their latest record Arabia Mountain and we wish them the best of luck because they deserve it. Though we are afraid to hear the “punk track” they are currently producing for Ke$ha, we highly anticipate hearing Arabia Mountain because the first songs released via video have been killer.
