The cover art for the collaborative project between Lou Reed and Metallica. Not entirely sure of what to expect from this record, but definitely looking forward to it as long as it’s nothing like when Jimmy Page and Puff Dadddy collaborated.

New album artwork for Dum Dum Girls‘ forthcoming release Only In Dreams and the stylistically different sounding single “Coming Down” from the album which finds Dee Dee writing a straight up ballad, which she does damn well.

One of my all time favorite Hot Water Music will be coming out with a post reunion 7″, The Fire, The Steel, The Tread / Adds Up To Nothing EP before playing some US shows this fall including Riot Fest East in Philadelphia and the Fest in Gainesville. The artwork looks to be designed by long time collaborator Scott Sinclair.

Mastodon switches it up with a new cover artist, AJ Fosik for their forthcoming record and it looks amazing. The Hunter is due out in October.

According to a recent interview in Filter, The Black Lips are aiming for some mainstream success with their latest record Arabia Mountain and we wish them the best of luck because they deserve it. Though we are afraid to hear the “punk track” they are currently producing for Ke$ha, we highly anticipate hearing Arabia Mountain because the first songs released via video have been killer.

I think calling the Arctic Monkeys’ new album art for Suck It & See minimalist might be an understatement. While the album art may be sparse we can expect big riffs on the upcoming album due to production by Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age. The album will see US release via Domino on June 7th.

Fucked Up‘s Town Comp is a limited edition 12″ for Record Store Day 2011 featuring 11 tracks not on the upcoming full length rock opera David Comes To Life featuring some snazzy retro cover art. (I already regret the use of “snazzy”) These songs create “a fictitious compilation album from a British town (where David Comes To Life is set) circa 1978-83, in the tradition of local punk, post-punk and DIY comps of the era”.

Record Store Day exclusive split release from Coliseum and Superchunk (who crafted two of our favorite records last year) featuring their covers of the Misfits which both surfaced last year around Halloween. Coliseum takes on “Bullet” and Superchunk covers “Horror Business”. This is one of our top pieces of vinyl we will be hunting for on RSD 2011.
