RIP: Alex Chilton (1950 – 2010)

Alex Chilton of Big Star passed away yesterday due to heart complications in New Orleans at the age of 59. Popeater has put together a nice write up and a collection of his music.

Big Star had recently been touring and it’s a shame to see him go and such a young age. In fact Big Star was scheduled to play this Saturday at SXSW in Austin, Texas. Alex was highly influential to a number of bands including one of my all time favorites, The Replacements.
