Titus Andronicus opened up their set of Replacements covers at the Our Band Could Be Your Life 10th anniversary show with a rendition of “Kids Don’t Follow” featuring Craig Finn of the Hold Steady taking on the role of the Minneapolis police officer. Liturgy released their new album Aesthethica last week which definitely brings pulls from influences of black metal and post-rock much like peers Krallice or Wolves in The Throne Room. Read more to check out an Mp3 and Video from the album.

Cults are burning up some of that major label money with their beautifully shot new video for “Abducted” directed by David Altobelli. The super catchy pop song works well alongside the creepy imagery, that at times has a David Lynch feel.

Hospital Ships bring to mind bands like Islands or Death Cab for Cutie due to the vocalists occasionally shimmers of Ben Gibbard esque vocal qualities. The band is the bedroom project of Jordan Geiger, former member of Shearwater and a personal favorite of mine The Appleseed Cast. New animated clip for “Common Heat” from No Age’s Everything In Between LP. The video was directed by Claire Gross & Anne-Sophie Le Creure.

Amor de Dias (translation – Love For Days) is a new project from Alasdair MacLean from The Clientele and Lupe Núñez-Fernández of indie-pop duo Pipas and they make some really pretty sounding songs. PJ Harvey has been working extra hard as of late. Not only did she release the magnificent Let England Shake in February and embark on an international tour, but she’s also released a slew of new videos in unusually quick succession. Once obsolete, the video is again becoming a popular form of expression for musicians now that the Internet has made it easy to watch and share them.

If you have a chance to catch one of her shows, we highly recommend it. At NYC’s Terminal 5, the music was paired down but powerful. She wore a long white dress with black feathers in her hair and stood meekly off to the side of the stage during the whole performance. Alongside John Parish and Mick Harvey, she played new songs almost exclusively. I would have loved to hear a few more old songs, but it is understandable considering that this album was as usual a transformation for her.

New video from And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead’s latest longplayer Tao of the Dead finds the band in an old silent movie filled some crystal ball wizardry and an out of body experience of sorts.

Just days after announcing the single, Arctic Monkeys have released a new psychedelic video for “Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair”. It’s a blurry, moody ride with cool, denim-clad Alex Turner and friends. Obviously, they’re going for the mysterious and mature mystique that borders more on metal than brit pop with this album. However, I will say that if you lose the sound, the indistinguishable shapes and Ashcroft-quaffed Turner may have you believing that you’re watching an early Verve video. Either way, I’m always happy to see anything new by the Arctic Monkeys and am very much looking forward to seeing them at Summer Stage in Central Park this May.
