Ages is new band made up of Pelican, Shift, Undertow and The Rise. The band has a sound reminiscent of Torche with crunchy, heavy guitars and more pop oriented vocals, though the vocals are higher and more prominent in the mix than Torche. Check out “Dirt” below.

Big Eyes is a sort of new band featuring members of Cheeky, Used Kids and Seasick who we first caught opening up for the Screaming Females record release show. The band has some big riffs and good hooks that fans of Fifth Hour Hero, The Muffs and Sleater Kinney would appreciate. The band has made their demo available for free with donations accepted.

Jonah Matranga (Far, Onelinedrawing) has released a sort of work in progress version of the song “Happy” from his new record You’re All Those Things and Then Your None. The album has been recorded as a collaborative effort with his fans sending in various instrumental and vocal parts with some instruction from Jonah such as the keys of the song, beats per minute etc. According to his site the next time you hear this song “many of our voices will be singing it together, trading off, being our imperfect selves and enjoying it.”

La Sera is the new project from Katy Goodman who plays bass for the Vivian Girls. The song is sort of hazy dream pop. This single will be available on a 7 inch on November 16th, look out for the full length in 2011.
