Beginners imaginatively explores the hilarity, confusion, and surprises of love through the evolving consciousness of Oliver. Oliver meets the irreverent and unpredictable Anna only months after his father Hal has passed away. This new love floods Oliver with memories of his father who — following 44 years of marriage — came out of the closet at age 75 to live a full, energized, and wonderfully tumultuous gay life. The upheavals of Hal’s new honesty, by turns funny and moving, brought father and son closer than they’d ever been able to be. Now Oliver endeavors to love Anna with all the bravery, humor, and hope that his father taught him.

The book Drawings From the Film Beginners By Mike Mills contains all the drawings which Mike Mills drew, and that Oliver (played by Ewan) works with in the film. Oliver has the unfortunate idea of creating an illustrated ‘History of Sadness’ as a record cover for the The Sads, including such episodes as: Neanderthal man realizes he’s outclassed by homo sapiens man, the pilgrims, industrialization, birth of the novel, pets in general and many more.” This volume also features a new series of drawings: an illustrated History Of Love which includes such chapters as: the first butt to attract, great lovers in film, flappers, free love’s not so easy, internal V.S. external problems and many more.

We are happy to be giving away a copy of Precious Metal: Decibel Presents the Stories Behind 25 Extreme Metal Masterpieces the new book featuring stories of how classic metal albums were made from Decibal Magazine. The criteria to talk about the album is very strict including the rule that they must be able to interview all the band members who played on the album. Which is why you might be wondering where Master of Puppets is etc. The book does cover a lot of great records though ranging from Slayer’s Reign In Blood to Converge’s Jane Doe. The book also features Black Sabbath, Carcass, Opeth, Cannibal Corpse, Botch, At The Gates and many others.

Novembers Doom will be dropping a huge slab of metal on us July 7th with their seventh studio album Into Night’s Requiem Infernal via The End Records. To celebrate the release the band is giving away an 8GB iPod Nano laser engraved with the band’s name and logo plus a signed copy of Into Night’s Requiem Infernal, and a DVD copy of ‘The Novella Vosselaar.’ Included on the iPod itself will be the entire Novembers Doom discography, including all the promotional videos, and the DVD video as well. Five second place winners will receive an autographed copy of ‘Into Night’s Requiem Infernal.’

Seventh Void just released their new album Heaven Is Gone through Big Vin Records. (Big Vin being Vinnie Paul of Pantera fame) The band features Type O Negative guitarist Kenny Hickey and drummer Johnny Kelly.
